Wellness and self-care has become an important part of our daily lives. This year's wellness speakers, Nicola Gunter & Gurdeep Pandher, will introduce new ways to bring joy and health into our professional journey.
Nicola is the founder and Program Director of the social enterprise, Goodworm Garden Programs, located in 'Beaver Hills House, aka as Edmonton. She is a registered (radical) social worker, organic master gardener, horticultural therapy practitioner and urban gardener/food grower. Through a variety of ways, Nicola connects people to plants via educational garden workshops, therapeutic horticulture activities, and/or by organizing community initiatives. Her latest initiative, Yard Share YEG, is a mutual aid effort aimed to connect neighbours via a yard-sharing model. For more information about Nicola and her work, please visit goodworm.org.
Gurdeep Pandher is a Yukon based, Bhangra instructor. He creates performance pieces that bring together artists from all backgrounds while promoting inclusivity and diversity. Currently, he is best known for bringing happiness and positivity during the pandemic through his online dance classes and videos. The dance performances and videos are watched by millions of viewers throughout the world. Gurdeep’s works have been published by many international art and media organizations including BBC News, CBC National, The Globe and Mail. Although he is presently a dance instructor at the Yukon University, Gurdeep has experience teaching Bhangra workshops at many venues in the Yukon, Canada and throughout the world.
